1 - PROGRAM INSTALLATION
B-BALL is designed to be played from one high density floppy diskette (1.2M
5.25" or 1.44M 3.5"), or from a hard disk where all of the game files are
copied into one subdirectory. It cannot be played from one 360K or one 720K
floppy diskette as the executable SGV.EXE file is too large and the team
statistics files accumulate in size rapidly. You will also need at least
512K in memory (RAM) to run the B-BALL program.
To install B-BALL Pro Basketball for the Computer onto your computer hard
drive simply copy all of the files from the floppy diskette(s) to a single
subdirectory on your hard drive. Simply insert the B-BALL disk into your
floppy drive (here we'll assume the A: drive), access the B-BALL subdirectory,
and type "install" at the DOS prompt. The install program will ask you if it
can install the program into a directory called "bball". Type "Y" for yes if
that is acceptable. If you do not want the directory name to be "bball", type
"N" for no. The install program will then allow you to install all of the
program and team files to a directory name of your choice.
If there is any problem with the install program, simply copy ALL of the files
from the B-BALL disk to a single subdirectory of your root directory on you
hard drive (here the subdirectory is called "bball"). Then repeat this for any
other B-BALL disks that you may have (such as extra team disks). Use DOS
commands similar to:
A:\> md c:\bball
A:\> copy a:*.* c:\bball
assuming a: is the floppy drive you are copying from and c: is your hard drive.
2 - GENERAL GAME INFORMATION
In purchasing B-BALL Pro Basketball for the Computer you have obtained the most
statistically accurate user friendly computer pro basketball game available
today for IBM and compatible personal computers. In using B-BALL you can
play any pro team against another, play pro teams from different seasons
against each another, even play teams composed of players that you draft from
the different pro teams (even players from different pro seasons drafted onto
the same team) against the actual pro teams or against other draft teams.
Entire leagues composed of teams of drafted players can also be formed (great
for play-by-mail basketball leagues) with up to 28 teams in any single draft
team league.
When playing B-BALL you have three different options on how to play any single
game. First, you can have the computer play both teams, with either the
play-by-play narrative text pausing after each team possession so it can be
read or with the narrative text scrolling continuously so games can be played
quickly (in a few seconds on most PCs). Second, you can play a team manually
(human coach) versus a computer played team, where you, as the team's coach,
can make player substitutions, assign a man-to-man defense, press full court,
even double team opposing players. Third, you can play both teams in a game
manually. When playing a team manually you even have the option of deciding
who to pass the ball to in many situations (dependent on your players ball
handling abilities) or you can let the computer dictate the passing based on
how often the players actually handled the ball in real life while you still
coach the team.
At the end of a game you have the option of saving both the game box score and
also the game statistics. All of the game box scores for any league can be
saved for viewing at a later time and all game statistics can be saved to
accumulate total player and team statistics. B-BALL has an extensive stats
compiler that shows four full screens of statistics for each team including per
game stats and single game highs and lows, and also lists league standings,
league leaders in eight different categories (scoring, FG%, 3PT FG%, FT%,
rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots), a team's game scores, and the
top ten single game performances by all players in points, FGM, FGA, 3PFGM,
3PFGA, offensive, defensive, and total rebounds, assists, steals, turnovers,
and blocked shots for all of the games played in a single league.
But most of all you will find that the statistical accuracy of B-BALL closely
reflects just how the pro players actually performed in the previous season,
moreso than in other computer games. B-BALL was designed specifically with this
intent in mind. In terms of the game's playability and user friendly features,
we are ALWAYS willing to listen to your ideas on how to improve the game. Any
comments or suggestions on B-BALL are most welcome. Most of the game's user
friendly features were originally suggestions from customers that have since
been incorporated into the game so please do not hesitate to let us know your
ideas. Please call Bob Chaikin at 216-291-9243 with your comments (or if you
have any problems with the program) or write to
B-BALL Pro Basketball for the Computer
BOBBALL, Inc.
1523 Felton Road
South Euclid, Ohio 44121 U.S.A.
for any further information, including how to obtain future revisions of the
B-BALL program and also disks containing pro teams from earlier seasons. Teams
from the past that are presently available include those from the following
seasons - 77-78, 79-80, 85-86, 86-87, 87-88, 88-89, 89-90, 90-91, 91-92, and
the ABA of 75-76. Other past seasons are currently being completed and play
tested.
3 - SHAREWARE VERSION OF B-BALL
For those of you who have obtained the B-BALL Single Game Version through
shareware, the price of the B-BALL software is $29.95 with each additional
season selling for $9.95. To register the software please remit this amount
to BOBBALL, Inc. at the above address using either a check or money order.
There is no difference between the shareware version of B-BALL and that
purchased directly from BOBBALL, Inc. The shareware is a complete working
version of the B-BALL software with the 1990-91 pro teams included.
One nice feature of B-BALL is that for up to one year after you purchase it,
you can obtain for FREE the latest version of B-BALL by simply sending a
formatted floppy diskette and sufficient return postage (and an envelope
large enough to hold the floppy) to BOBBALL, Inc. We will then send the
latest version to you.
NOTE: As of 9/92 B-BALL is also looking for corporate sponsorship and/or a
distributor. Any interested parties please contact Bob Chaikin at the
above phone number and/or address.
4 - BEGINNING THE PROGRAM

did not change the name) on your hard drive, type "bball" or "onegame", and
press the <ENTER> key. Use DOS commands similar to:

C:\BBALL> bball
Once you are in the program please type the letter "I" to read and/or print out

teams from. The B-BALL game instructions will also follow this batch file.
To start playing games, type "C" for choose league, then type in a 7 character
code of a league (such as PRO9192 if you have the 1991-92 pro teams). Then type
